Jojoba Oil

This carrier oil is derived through cold pressing from the nuts, beans, and seeds of the Simmondsia chinensis plant. It is cultivated in warm areas of Australia, Northern Mexico, and Israel, and is best grown in well-drained, sandy soil with sufficient sun exposure. That said, this plant can withstand uncultured soils and high heat with minimal supervision.

Jojoba Oil is described as having a clear, golden yellow colour with a fairly nutty aroma and relatively thin consistency. Although the name itself contains the word “oil” in it, this carrier oil is actually more of a golden wax ester than it is a genuine oil.

Jojoba plant's botanical extract is a close comparison when contrasted to the consistency of our sebum — the oily substance that covers our skin and hair. The wax is derived by cold-pressing the botanical. It is an odourless base carrier oil with a beautiful golden colour.

Camellia Oil

Camellia Seed Oil, also known as tea seed oil, is a carrier oil that comes from the Camellia oleifera plant species and can be found in the mountains of Southeast Asia. This feather-light and fast-absorbing oil is the treasured secret in skin and hair care products. It is recognised for its smooth texture and subtle aroma. Characterised by its light amber to golden colour, Camellia Oleifera Seed oil adds a unique touch to a wide range of products. Camellia oil for skin provides a nourishing and rejuvenating effect. Camellia oil is very quick to absorb, leaving the skin looking soft, smooth and supple. Perfect for everyday use, and giving dry skin an extremely hydrated look, this natural oil helps to provide the appearance of a healthy summer glow all year round.

Castor Oil

Castor oil is a carrier oil that is light yellow and is crafted using a cold-pressing method. It is a versatile and valuable addition to any collection of natural oils, particularly when used as a carrier oil.

Extracted from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant, castor oil boasts a thick, viscous texture and a faint, mild aroma. Carrier oils like castor oil play a crucial role in diluting potent essential oils, allowing for safer and more comfortable topical application.

The main chemical composition of castor oil is ricinoleic acid, a potent fatty acid that can moisturize and protect your skin barrier. Castor oil has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. It can help to decrease pimples, soften skin, and reduce the appearance of large pores.

Rosehip Oil

Rosehip carrier oil, also known as Rosehip seed oil, is pressed from fruit and seeds of the rose plant. It is full of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamins that are beneficial for skin health. It is a well-known oil utilised in Chile, but over time, it has become popular all over the world.

Rosehip carrier oil is rich in vitamins A & E, and it improves the appearance of your skin. The hydrating and gentle qualities of this oil can be used to treat a range of skin conditions from age spots, stretch marks, and many more. Rosehip carrier oil is considered a 'dry' oil as it absorbs into the skin easily without leaving an oily remnant. The gentle components of the oil allows it to be readily applied onto the skin even if its undiluted. Most people who are using rosehip carrier oil regularly don’t have dry, flaky skin. This is what the benefit of rosehip carrier oil is recognised for because of the fatty acids it contains. It is an effective emollient and moisturiser. Rosehip oil contains high levels of omega-6 (linoleic acid) and omega-3 (linolenic acid) which can improve its barrier function (by moisturising it) and effectively soften skin (by hydrating it).

Although seemingly counterintuitive as an oil and sometimes thought to be not suitable for skin prone to acne, the oil is actually an ideal natural oil designed for blemished skin. Specifically, Omega-6 is helpful for such skin types.

Zinc Oxide

Zinc oxide powder (or ZnO) is a naturally occurring mineral in the form of a fine, white-coloured powder. This powder contains micronised, non-nano, and uncoated particles that are not absorbed into the skin and as such, the micronised particles provide a certain level of sun protection.

Optiphen Plus

Optiphen Plus is a well-known and popular broad-spectrum preservative, free from parabens and formaldehyde, that efficiently delivers antimicrobial activity to a wide variety of personal care products such as shampoos, conditioners, face, body washes, creams, lotions and gels. It's effective as a stand-alone preservative and also functions well with other preservatives. It contains an active blend of phenoxyethanol and sorbic acid.

Cetyl Alcohol

Cetyl alcohol is a multi-purpose vegetable derivative that is commonly used as an emollient, emulsifier, and thickener in a skincare formulation. As an emulsifier, it keeps the oil and water from separating whilst as a thickener, it helps to change the viscosity and increase the foaming capacity of lotions and shampoos. It actually is not an 'alcohol', such as ethyl alcohol, that we know to be drying on the skin but is in fact a conditioner that helps to soften skin and hair. As such, it has a multitude of applications in moisturisers, shampoo/conditioner and facial cleansers.
