Boltham Downs Grass-Fed Beef Tallow Skincare
From paddock to skin, our tallow skincare range is made with the same care, intention, and integrity as our food.
Our balms and soaps are crafted using grass-fed beef tallow rendered from our own or local cattle — a traditional, time honoured ingredient valued for its deeply nourishing and protective qualities. Rich in naturally occurring vitamins and fatty acids, tallow closely mirrors the structure of human skin, allowing it to absorb easily and support the skin’s natural barrier.
Simple. Honest. Effective.
We believe skincare should be as clean and uncomplicated as the food we grow. That’s why our products are made in small batches using minimal, thoughtfully chosen ingredients — free from synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and unnecessary additives.
Each product is designed to soothe, protect, and restore hardworking skin, making it suitable for everyday use by the whole family.
Rooted in WholeAnimal Use
Using tallow is part of our commitment to respectful, wholeanimal farming. By turning what was once a forgotten byproduct into something deeply beneficial, we honour the animal and reduce waste — a practice that aligns with our values of sustainability and stewardship.
Handmade in Small Batches
Our tallow balms and soaps are handcrafted in small batches to ensure quality, consistency, and freshness. Because we produce in limited quantities, availability may vary throughout the year.
Grass-Fed Highland Beef
Paddock to Plate
Our beef begins with the Highland — an ancient cattle breed renowned for flavour, resilience, and exceptional meat quality. Traditionally, pure Highland cattle take longer to mature, making them less suited to modern commercial systems. Rather than compromise on quality, we’ve chosen a thoughtful alternative.
By crossing our Highland bull, Oscar, with our Murray Grey cows, we produce a unique Highland influenced beef that delivers the best of both worlds: the rich flavour and hardiness of Highland cattle, with the efficient grass-fed finishing of a commercial breed.
Our cattle are raised slowly and naturally on pasture, grass fed and grass finished, just as nature intended.
Local. Ethical. Small Batch.
Once ready, our beef is processed at a local abattoir and packaged by a local butcher, keeping food miles to an absolute minimum and supporting regional businesses every step of the way. Our herd is intentionally small, allowing us to focus on animal welfare, land stewardship, and exceptional quality rather than volume.
The result is bespoke, limited release beef — tender, flavoursome, and produced with care from paddock to plate.
Limited Availability
Because of our small herd size, opportunities to purchase our Highland beef are limited.

SprayFree Seasonal Vegetables
On our farm, we eat with the seasons and rely largely on vegetables grown right here in our own patch. What we grow for ourselves is exactly what we offer to our community — fresh, honest food raised with care and intention.
We don’t use herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilisers. Instead, we focus on building healthy, living soil — rich in organic matter and microbial life — so the vegetables grown from it are naturally resilient and nutrient dense.
Pest control is managed the way nature intended. Through companion planting and encouraging beneficial predator insects, we work with the ecosystem rather than disrupting it with sprays. This balanced approach supports plant health while protecting the life in and around our gardens.
Our produce is harvested seasonally and made available through our website and local markets. We’re particularly well known locally for our sweet red onions and large, pungent garlic, grown slowly for flavour rather than speed.
